Mick Lawton
Didgeridoo Performer

Mick first become interested in the didgeridoo when he heard an Aborigine playing at Glastonbury Festival (UK) in the 80's. When he returned home he immediately made a cheap imitation didgeridoo from some plastic piping and set about learning to play.

Since then Mick has played didgeridoo in bands performing many styles of music, including techno, drum and bass, dub and folk. He has played extensively throughout England and in countries as far away as Singapore and Taiwan.

A qualified musician and sound engineer whose main instrument is jazz piano, Mick also plays a variety of world instruments. Mick has taught music theory, piano and has held didgeridoo workshops.

Mick is currently a part time tutor for the Drake Music Project, which enables people who are unable to play conventional instruments to compose and perform their own music. The didgeridoo has proved to be an indispensable tool in this environment.
